Hi Cvetan !

I was wondering whether it was possible or not to avoid going above the 60th South red line near Horn Cape ?

I congratulate you for your excellent work, efficient and simple to use !

What's the story with the red line? I haven't seen anything about it in the instructions and I don't play that race myself.

You "cannot" go below this line without damaging your speed.

What's the damage exactly? I think it would be better to implement the damage than to restrict the movement.

This is what MP is announcing:

"in lower part of this latitude your speed will be automatically reduced, degrees additional in the south will thus make you lose 75% of your speed"

As far as I've been able to notice, you can penetrate the area (below 60 S), but not too much.

This is why I wondered if avoiding the area was possible in your soft. Hope the question is clear and thanks for your quick answers zezo !

OK, maybe the question is not clear (so are MP instructions) or you'll see that later.

So will you tell us if/when it´s implemented.... :)

I've modified the optimizer and now speed is decreased in half below 60 S. That is clearly visible in the isochrones and should be enough to avoid sailing there.

Thanks, Cvetan. You're too kind with us

I wondered why I don't have to move my destination 10/15° North anymore ;)

It was about 1-minute job and I should be doing more of these.

Just add this term: " * (pos->lat < D2R(-60) ? 0.5:1)"

here:

gc_destination(pos->lon,pos->lat, (angle+b)%360, get_speed(abs(angle), v) * penalty / timestep , &lon, &lat);

;-)

OldChapZ: penalty is the 5% subtracted for the "avoid tacks" option.

Mark of good programming habits.

It's obvious (the way you do it) : who has to deal with sin, cos, Lon2-Lon1. ;)

PS : BTW, did you change something ? It looks like we now have 1h steps at the beginning of the 7d track.

So I just followed the red dots as the Z-track was going well below the redline when I was down there. Worked to get me out of the Follow the Zezo mind set! Im faster now! Zezo is a tool only a tool only a tool tool only a tool only a tool! Think!

When plotting a new course, there is only the option "pro sails" to mark. If I look at the suggested course, I see spin is often the choice. I do not have pro sails, and therefore not a spin. How can I rely on the course suggested?

Great job btw.

Cheers!

I haven't fixed the sail names for that race. Spi should read Gennaker. I'll take a look at it tomorrow.

Thanks. I believe I have also put the same question under the "Trophée Jules Verne" topic. Please give it no attention.
