shows as race #329.5 and no routing windows opens at go. not yet configured?

trying to decide on options: foils, code0 or maybe light?

and a minor thingy: plug-in 1.1.0 doesn't show boat name anymore

Thanks. I haven't noticed, will add the waypoints later today.

Same here now. VR must have changed something.

Party time now, will check tomorrow.

On unrelated note I also got a Full pack for the first time now, and it generates a new warning in the console. Not sure if it breaks anything.

Note to self: Something also breaks the auto router window, full pack or otherwise.

Re <unknown> boat name

1) There are two messages containing the boat name. One is the leg rank, and there is no leg rank sent by default right now (Jules Verne has no running rank, other races are on hold). You get name updated if you enter Sydney Hobart. JV also uses different message, LDB_GetGateRank

2) Login procedure. VR have renamed one of the messages, should be trivial fix.

AFAIK, still same boat than other Clipper Legs.
Imoca CSV polar files available here then :

Cvetan, how did you find the 0 kts boatspeed area?

early split by the way, those tacking between the Island and the rest moving away from mainland Australia
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2018-01-05 | 16:07:47
No such area. I just suggested adding the option to the router. Maybe not 0, but 2 could make it better.

I was talking boatspeed, not windspeed ;)

Oh, I see. 6 boats are about 5 boats too many, and this game is total pain in the ass without paying the ransom for unlimited cards.

Went to the store for some food with my 1.5 y/o daugther, then it turned to walk into the park.

The other boat went aground right at the start _without_ the warning sign showing up. There is some parallax in the track line and the landscape still shifts around when scrolling.

well, at least you had a real walk with your real daughter. much more valuable!

VR conspiracy. hahahahahaha
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2018-01-05 | 16:47:21
It's not a conspiracy. It's extortion. And then some bugs.

Edit: What a progress! The boat hull is now transparent when you get grounded, but you have to exit and re-enter the race. And it does not make refloating much easier - client-side pseudo-movement is still there.

Yes this is a real pain. I also have 6 boats. I started to try to collect Prog cards for the Clipper about 3 days ago, I must have connected at least 6-7 times a day to try to get packs of prog....I could get 2 packs for one boat and 1 for the other. One pack out of 15-20 connections. Such a pain in the ass.
I won't use my 2nd boat anymore.

what do you guys mean, 6 boats, 2 boats in 3 races each?
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2018-01-05 | 21:37:29
Yes. I start the second boat to have a testing platform ant try not to put much effort into it, but it still takes time to look after.

After grounding repeatedly today I'm not sure about running even a second race wit the main boat. Or even the first with unpaid options.

yeah, without (programming) cards it is becoming more and more nasty to be an NMS.

don't know if that is the VR objetive: weed out the NMS sailors, scale down the servers and support and run races with 1000 to 2000 (paying) sailors only ...

It's just a lure. Once you had options with autohelm and programming and no options and that was a clear choice.

Then with the interpolated winds autohelm became obligatory, so they included it in the basic feature. The cards are just a lure teasing you to buy the full pack (but you can't do it underway, so you have to cough up cash and then quit playing the fucking game out of frustration)

Because the price of the fill pack (15EUR) is worth 30 turns. And you lose points when grounded, lose points when the weather changes and you change your mind, lose points when you wake up in the middle of the night and change your mind.

So you can end up spending EUR20 and 7 days hunting for the proper card every hour on the hour, or spending EUR50, buying random nav packs and still not obtaining the needed cards.

And then it still feels like throwing away 50 cents every time you cancel a programming.

Fuck VR, that's what I say.

If it turns out that I do not really need an already programmed programming I keep shoving it forward (to T+23h). That way I keep it in stock for later use. Never throw away such valuable goods! :-)

Same for me, I normally don't put too much effort in my second boat, but now part of this unpaid option challenge, so obviously need to put more effort; this is just too much, especially when you have a start like the leg 6 of the clipper that requires so much attention. So will stop my 2nd boat once it crosses the line.

Post by iconPost by marcusbelgicus | 2018-01-05 | 23:25:22
And very often you start to get a lot of prog cards at the end of the game, when you don't need them anymore...
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2018-01-05 | 23:32:02
Right now i need AS card ... go figure.

There is a big story about those things in game industry in general during the past year, including legislation and when it is classified as gambling (which limits access to minors). Will post a thread about it when I feel like it, but google "loot box" if you are curious (and then start a new thread if you feel like it ;-)
Post by iconPost by marcusbelgicus | 2018-01-06 | 00:06:24
Ummh just had a look, those cards than come randomly appear to be very close to the definition of a loot box ...Maybe I should initiate a thread on the VR forum ;)
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2018-01-06 | 00:18:15
The barrel does not cost you money. But the random card packs do, and they are all random but the first "choice"

The articles also say Apple now demands exact definitions of the odds of such things for store apps.

Post by iconPost by Ursus Maritimus | 2018-01-06 | 00:58:09
you could also buy the more expensive 'navigation pack' but that is also gambling for your money
Post by iconPost by Ursus Maritimus | 2018-01-06 | 00:57:04
Just give it a go, nothing ever happens with any post on the VR House Club ...
Post by iconPost by Ursus Maritimus | 2018-01-06 | 00:59:14
what if ...

... you could program a sail change ;)
Post by iconPost by Lasse | 2018-01-13 | 11:37:09
Made a couple of "corkscrews" in this race because of the changing winds and lack of focus during nights. Fell down to position 23000-something. Now I'm in position 1471, mostly thanks to zezo!!

I.e. after my mistakes, I quite easily worked myself up to the top 5%. It seems like 95% of the competitors don't care so much or I've become an expert sailor! :-D

Now let's go for top 1000!!
