I know this has been kicked around a lot already, but I can not find the thread. I just gybed (from 141 port to 141 starboard) I get a notifaction that I am using the wrong sail HJ and should be using a LJ. I checked and it looks like this is going to be the case for the next 40 minutes. According to VR there is no difference in speed. Either sail will get me 18.8. Granted VR dashboard might show a slight increase, but is less than tenth of a knot difference going to make up for the penalty incurred for changing sails over a 40 minute period? Even with the winch option I cant see it making up for 2 sail changes.

Actually, the displays doesn't not show the other digits after the rounding, so HG might actually be of a slightly higher speed, but not so much, as both sails finally round to the same value.

All depends now how long you want to sail with the wrong sail. If not that long, it won't matter. But otherwise, consider paying the sail change penalty ;)

for a short period, it is better to ignore the wrong sail error. I have no LS and HS and at 141 above 21.5 kts wind I should use C0 for 0,1 knot fast during half an hour. Two sail changes cost (with gybe about 0.4 nm at 20 kts) so easy choice.

maybe orange would be a better color to make it a warning in stead of error like be grounded ;)

The only problem is that you don't know what wind exactly the server is seeing, but you can observe the trend and extrapolate. I spent half hour yesterday with Light Genoa below 18.5 knot wind waiting for it to fill in. Worst case - 0.2 knots x 30 minutes = 0.1 Nm. 2 sail changes = 0.4 Nm.
