Would be nice if that were possible but, all at once I am guided through the middle of an island.
What gives?

Haha, sure, just thought courses would be plotted around land.

That is not always possible with the small islands.

It's Rennell Island, a rather big island, one of the first Solomon Islands when coming from the south. I don't seem to get an image (from imgur) linked with .

I'll go around it. Just thought you'd like to know.

I saw the url in the source. Something prevents embedding it.

Please check now, I threw few buckets of virtual sand in the narrow part of that island. Not sure if I got the right island, though ;-)

Zezo is surprisingly accurate when it comes to where the land is.
I was using google maps to double check coordinates for certain passages, and even though Zezo miss some tiny islands, it is still accurate regarding the islands we can see in zezo.
That we run over land sometimes in Zezo is just part of the challenge.
I lost some positions now when we navigated through some Islands. Skilled skippers like Cvetan, Tessa, did it so much better, and with ease it seems like. I have to struggle, but that is part of the game.

Salt Dragon is heading for the narrowest hole prize right now.

Nooo. It does not count if the beaches don't touch. There is visible water there ;-)

Like what La Semilante did at Madeira in Leg 1.

For the record:

1) My land/collision chart has two minute resolution. That translates to two miles or less.

2) The collision check is done only at routing steps. Which is 10 minutes for the first few hours, but extends to 1 hour few days ahead. As a consequence a fast boat (at 20 knots) can sail over a lot of pixels (and land).

3) I fix the chart manually when I see some anomaly, like Rennell island above, but I only have a boat or two and can't spot them them all.
