The hunting in the record is open on VR.

le trphée Jules Vernes : 2000 credits de dotation,
8300 credits pour le Full pack (sans radio ni couleurs) ou 25 Euros !
Post by iconPost by Saileellely | 2017-12-20 | 13:39:00
How much does a "get-rich-for-free" option cost?
Post by iconPost by Saileellely | 2017-12-20 | 13:37:36
It says start whenever you want. How do you start? Does it start as soon as you have set up the boat? Any time that you need to be back in?

Post by iconPost by WaterHammer | 2017-12-20 | 16:10:26
After setting up (or not), there is a big button in the screen to start your attempt.

Est ce que LA JV TROPHY est supportée par ZEZO?

Post by iconPost by zezo | 2017-12-20 | 16:13:18
Yes
Post by iconPost by toxcct | 2017-12-20 | 16:38:02
Cvetan, your polars profile look like the Clipper Imocas.
However, it seems that this race is running on Maxi Trimaran...

Is this normal ?
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2017-12-20 | 16:55:36
Yes, when you copy the clipper race and forget to change the polars ;-)

Fixed. You may have to hit f5 or something.

Post by iconPost by Inicio | 2017-12-20 | 17:00:38
Polars?
Now, 7.4 at 64º TWA, 14,6 knots speed!
Polars and router say 7.5 knots speed...
Post by iconPost by Inicio | 2017-12-20 | 17:07:32
jpafonso is sailing now
Post by iconPost by Inicio | 2017-12-20 | 17:15:28
Router's speeds are well.
Polars speed still 50% slow
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2017-12-20 | 17:16:54
You have to get rid of the cached Clipper polars. Clear cache/hit Control-F5 or control-shif-r or something.
Post by iconPost by Skully62 | 2017-12-20 | 17:24:08
How do we know when the best time to go is. Will zezo tell us. But the forcast only goes for 16 days you are only going to know the fastest possible time for the first couple of days. Or is it a just go and hope for the best
Post by iconPost by Inicio | 2017-12-20 | 17:40:41
Oxven, from the staff of the VR forum, confirms that new options can be added before each new attempt.

And the Full Pack includes the unlimited use of navigation functions. Thing that before was not indicated. Yes now.
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2017-12-20 | 17:42:55
The usual starting goal is "Less than one week to the Equator"

It looks like a good time to start right now.
Post by iconPost by Skully62 | 2017-12-20 | 17:49:56
At the moment it looks like there is not much wind around the start but in 5 days or so that will clear and make way for 20 knots

but then i just want to get sailing
Post by iconPost by Inicio | 2017-12-20 | 18:04:46
The polars on http://toxcct.free.fr/polars/ are still the old Clipper...
Post by iconPost by toxcct | 2017-12-20 | 20:30:44
that is because when toxcct collected zezo's source files, they where still imoca's.
Then Cvetan fixed it, but I had other things to do today...

Fixed now.
Post by iconPost by Ursus Maritimus | 2017-12-20 | 18:57:40
if I select the race in VR Dashboard, no routing window opens, although I have a gps position. race name is Race #350.1
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2017-12-20 | 19:10:17
BTW I had not set expiration time for the config file. Fixed it now at 1 hour. Not sure for how long Chrome will cache the old one, but clearing the cache before opening the extension is a last resort.

Another option is opening http://zezo.org/races2.json in a browser window and hitting F5 until you see "id" : "350.1", "name" : "Jules Verne", "url": "jv" in it.

Post by iconPost by Ursus Maritimus | 2017-12-20 | 19:36:04
aha, just reload VR Dashboard
Post by iconPost by GeGaX | 2017-12-20 | 19:21:27
Hi Cvetan,
The current Timeshift is + 24h, do you have the time (and the desire) to put a configurable Timeshift ?
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2017-12-20 | 19:25:43
It requires a bit more work than I have the time to do right now. Router itself already supports it, bit the entire infrastructure around it (database, caching, file naming etc) has to be fixed and tested (for the running races too), so I may use the gap between VOR and Clipper / Hobart to do that.
Post by iconPost by GeGaX | 2017-12-20 | 19:28:34
I know, no problem ;)
Post by iconPost by Ursus Maritimus | 2017-12-20 | 19:36:30
where's the frigate? I wanna jump on it ;)
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2017-12-20 | 20:32:19
@toxcct there is no hull bonus in the #7 file now.
Post by iconPost by toxcct | 2017-12-20 | 23:20:47
OH !?
Ok, I have to remove it then, but I share the same code across all the races, so it will break for the races in progress I guess...
Post by iconPost by toxcct | 2017-12-20 | 23:24:58
Fixed. Not too bad for the VOR anyway, it's about to end :)
Thanks for the notice

restart on port ;) but there is hardly any wind ...
Post by iconPost by Skully62 | 2017-12-20 | 21:54:27
that is what i am waiting for. some more wind.
Post by iconPost by Lasse | 2017-12-20 | 22:01:42
So you can restart as many times you like??
Post by iconPost by Ursus Maritimus | 2017-12-20 | 22:37:37
yep, but you will never get around the world that way ;)

Hello everybody, have pleasant and speed trip.
Hi Cvetan many many thanks to your patientfull to VR changes…
Will Zezo use Ultim Sodebo polars for the Jules Verne ?
Do we need to have increment of speed, (like n%) as last year ?
Regards
Seche
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2017-12-21 | 20:24:06
I'm using the current game polars.

VR calls them "maxi_trimaran_x10percent"

Go figure ...
Post by iconPost by toxcct | 2017-12-21 | 21:13:43
Yeah, I saw that... I just don't want to know -_-
Post by iconPost by CaptKAOS | 2017-12-21 | 21:27:50
4 days from now seems to be the big day...
Post by iconPost by Skully62 | 2017-12-21 | 22:09:10
What boat set up are people going with. 25euro is a lot and so is foils and c0 just under 4000 coins!!!

i was also thinking it will be an advantage to not get the unlimited cards so you can cash out lots of cards at the end of the race to get lots of coins as you will be at sea for like 40 ish days.
Post by iconPost by marcusbelgicus | 2017-12-21 | 23:07:19
You don't get more than x credits now (I assume x depends on the length of the leg), so no need to bank. But yes you can accumulate 100 prog cards if you want.
Post by iconPost by Saileellely | 2017-12-22 | 07:29:24
When does the challenge end?
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2017-12-22 | 08:12:47
2018-04-01. The little (i) on each race card in the game lobby gives vital information like opening and closing dates and race distance.
Post by iconPost by Sama | 2017-12-22 | 10:34:57
For all boats including mine displays on the details tab the same elapsed time (1d 21h 30m 00s at this moment). This is definitely not the elaspsed time from my start ...
Calculate the ranking will be hard :)
Post by iconPost by Saileellely | 2017-12-22 | 14:14:29
I did not understand all, but I did understand this bit. The competition is for the best time around the world. It does not matter when you start. For this reason, your time can only be compared to those who already have done the race.

For the Frenchies: compare it to the Tour de France time-trials. Start at random times, but the time taken to finish the course is counting, not the one who finishes first.

Funnily enough, there is already one boat that finished: Rogstar 2 in 41 days.

Post by iconPost by Ursus Maritimus | 2017-12-22 | 12:58:44
I think we're racing in an alpha release in stead of the usual beta release.
Takes some guts to charge people money for it.
Post by iconPost by Inicio | 2017-12-22 | 13:47:28
For No Money Sailors...
I think the best option is Foils only.
The Record closes on April 1. I think you can make two full attempts. What equipment? The 2000 credits of the Bonus and another 200 credits allow the foils. I think it's the most effective. The winches (1000 credits) add little, because there are few maneuvers. The polish (600 credits) always adds 0.03%. Little thing.
What is your opinion?
Post by iconPost by Saileellely | 2017-12-22 | 14:17:56
One long attempt to collect as many cards as possible, and cash them, and another to spend the earned money on equipment and make a serious attempt.

I don't know if making a second attempt makes you loose the money you earned on the first attempt.
Post by iconPost by Dogzilla | 2017-12-22 | 15:34:22
VR will cash your cards at the end of the race (1st of april). They will cash only 100 cards as they do on RORC.

Post by iconPost by zezo | 2017-12-22 | 15:39:11
Cards are not reset with new attempt.

But now someone from VR will read this post and they will fix it ;-)

Post by iconPost by Ursus Maritimus | 2017-12-23 | 20:04:49
Do you really think VR does anything with what they read here (or on their own House Club) ?

Post by iconPost by zezo | 2017-12-23 | 20:12:59
Yes. Maybe not the best thing that can be done, but there is some reaction.
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2017-12-23 | 22:39:01
Answer 2:

I don't care. I do what I believe is the right thing to do.
Post by iconPost by Ursus Maritimus | 2017-12-23 | 23:01:41
that's what people like about you, at least me
Post by iconPost by Dogzilla | 2017-12-22 | 15:31:12
For me, the 2 more effective options are Code 0 and foils. Foils are more effective than Code 0 but more expansive.
With 2000 credits yon can take Code 0 and 5 programmation cards.

Bonjour Où trouver les polaires à télécharger pour la Jules Verne 2017 (qtVlm) ?
Merci à vous
Post by iconPost by toxcct | 2017-12-23 | 09:24:28
Here : http://toxcct.free.fr/polars/datafiles/boats/maxitrimaran/csv/consolidated_all.csv
Post by iconPost by Inicio | 2017-12-22 | 16:33:49
I think that the various attempts are considered part of the same regatta. You keep accumulating cards, but that does not allow you to buy options before a new attempt, even if you finish a first attempt, because they only become credits on April 1, when the race ends and they buy you the unused cards. A lot of them...

Post by iconPost by Ursus Maritimus | 2017-12-23 | 20:01:00
probably maxed out at 500 credits ;)

Grand Merci à toxcct pour le fichier .csv. J-M B
Post by iconPost by YourMomSA | 2017-12-25 | 02:12:41
Has anyone analyzed how the current polars compare to the last two years' polars? It seems this boat is significantly faster, at least at the high end... It can do 42 kts in 35 kts windspeed. I think the last two years, the max speed was more like 37 or 38.

Is it faster in all conditions, or just in foiling conditions?
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2017-12-25 | 13:32:39
The VR label is maxi_trimaran_x10percent, go figure. Add 4% foils to that and you get 15% improvement.
Post by iconPost by Ursus Maritimus | 2017-12-25 | 13:43:53
I've made a timetable: Jules Verne Trophy timing
Feel free to add your boatname, options and times
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2018-01-08 | 23:26:46
Skipper @YannGuichard has made the difficult decision to return to Brest after receiving the latest weather files at 8pm, which show that the forecast to the equator and to the South Atlantic have not developed as anticipated. The team will aim to restart in about five days.
Post by iconPost by WoKeN | 2018-01-09 | 11:33:39
thtas what I already anticipated yesterday b4 they departed...
Post by iconPost by YourMomSA | 2018-01-08 | 23:32:29
Tricky thing is... Five days from now, if you complete the run, will probably be a little too late to do a second run. Within the next 2-3 days, anyone wanting to complete two runs needs to get going on their first. It might already be too late to start the first of two complete runs.
Post by iconPost by GeGaX | 2018-01-08 | 23:52:00
I think the boat will not leave, no more trophy jules verne for this boat it is already below the performance of all new ...
Post by iconPost by Grandphi | 2018-01-09 | 08:57:33
Can we have a mark at Cape Horn , please?
Post by iconPost by CRISTAU | 2018-01-09 | 12:10:22
I restarted once already, my first attempt gave 341h to cape Horn, now 334h, seems can go under 320h if leaving in 24 hours.
I was on 158h to Equateur and this time 132h
Post by iconPost by CRISTAU | 2018-01-10 | 04:05:42
Regarding the time left, we still have 90 days so still possible to make it twice if under 45 days after (we have to aim to 41-42 days).
Post by iconPost by YourMomSA | 2018-01-10 | 04:55:06
Agreed, but if Spindrift starts a real run 3-4 days from now, it might not be possible to wait for their start, finish a run with them, and then still get another one in. That was part of my decision to continue with my current mediocre run. If I can get finished in 46 or 47 days, then I can happily restart several times in the 2-3 weeks after that, looking for the perfect opportunity. Once we get past about January 14, you can't realistically expect to start and finish two runs before the course closes anymore.
Post by iconPost by RastaSLO | 2018-01-10 | 15:29:28
At this moment planning with 40.6 knots. If this could last ...
