I've added little red dots to the VOR chart marking origins of routing requests made in the past hour.

It's not proper "sat view" because it only displays boats who use the router, and heave used it recently.

The positions also get cleared after a weather update, and are not limited at one per boat, so you may see a trail if someone checks the router at regular intervals.

Also, someone may click and check a position where no actual boat exists.

Hey
I like the idea, but I think it is not easy to draw any conclusions from, since anyone can click anywhere setting a start position, and also people can manually put in wrong coordinates by mistakes, or manually put in coordinates from a future position.
Therefore I wonder, would it be possible to restrict it to only show dots that comes from dashboard requests? Because those would be the only reliable dots I suppose.

Yes, but it will decrease the number of dots significantly.

Aw nice, the good ol times are back. Only in those days one could see ALL the VOR skippers not only the zezo flock (black dots if I remember correctly).

As I presume the dots are zezo exclusive?

exactly, position data Zezo obtains from the Router Requests with a maximum age of 60 minutes.

VR added the boatnames option (selectable via the eye in the righthand side menu)

challenge to zezo for adding boatnames to the dots ;)

It's not a challenge. I had blue dots with mouse popups with speed/name etc, what they now call player card, 10 years ago.

First when the game allowed unauthenticated position requests for any player, then in the UG version via the Chrome plugin (it worked by resubmitting and parsing the boat data, and that included the friends too)

Can do it now in about 2 hours, along with accurate red dot display for bigger part of the fleet and all bells and whistles, but don't want to go into that anymore.

Should have known, it's not even a challenge for our Cvetan ;)

I respect your choice, now there still is something to guess

how 'bout only displaying the position / name of boats in stealth :p

just curious, if you select a competitor who is not direct next to you you see another swarm. what does that mean?
which red dots do you see and which not?
thanks
Darius

Red dots are limited to the area covered by your isochrones, that's why you see different swarms.
