Hi Cvetan -

It looks like maybe the router won't consider routings that dip below 68S. I'm trying to assess my routing from NZ to Cape Horn, and I think that dipping below 68S would be the best course, but it won't try. Can that be adjusted, or would adjusting that cause unwanted side-effects?

Tough call whether or not to re-start with the real Spindrift. The router doesn't agree with their statement that they can get to the equator in 5 days. I don't think I'm doing very well, so I'd probably be re-starting if I believed I could match their plan.

Thanks,
Mom

There is no such limit, it's just the wind naturally getting weaker or turning against you below 60.

The best moment looks like 144 hours to the Equator with full options, starting about 24 hours from now.

but doesn't look good after the equator. Various skippers inc yours truly expect to arrive in 5 days and then some but prospects after that are grim also...

I'm sailing south off the VOR chart with 4 others in a VOR Alt race and I too am getting no help from the router. Currently 77S 48'38", 177E 59'58"

It's not the latitude, it's the longitude for you. Check 'Ignore gates'

But no such limit for Jules Verne.

The wind field ends at 80°.

Must be something else too, Cvetan. The router has me with my snowmobile crossing Antarctica on land. Must be the strange map projection down here ;)

Thanks, Cvetan. I did some experimental routings and confirmed it does indeed show routes down there. It just wasn't showing one from my current position.

What does it mean when the isochromes suddenly stop in a region? I usually figure it means the router is deciding for some reason that it shouldn't consider routes into the area. (In this case, all of my isochromes were ending at 68S).

BTW - The real Spindrift has changed their mind. I'll keep going with my mediocre run for now. Who knows... maybe I'll hook into a nice system at Cape Horn to ride North.
