4 races have been opened on VR, one for each boat category :
- Ultimate
- Imoca
- Multi 50
- Class 40

Right now, I just noticed that Multi 50, which is supposed to be a multi-hulled boat, currently uses the mono-hulled "Figaro 2" Boat.

Also, the Ultimate uses a speed-augmented version of the multi/maxi_trimaran, with a globalSpeedRatio of 1.04.

Also note that VR has set Ultime Foil ratio to 1 (meaning, foils have no effect).
It used to be 1.04.

The remaining parameters and the polars themselves are unchanged.

Thanks. I'm going to wait a bit more before adding support for the race, and all observations on non-obvious changes from previous races are very useful.

They fixed THAT point.

But still Multi50 has Figaro2 polars, and Class40 polars seem to be faster than Imoca's (that may be correct, but weird anyway).

Lol, yes, only that point.

But afaics, the IMOCA (imoca_60_new) are faster than the Class 40, (very roughly) by a factor of 1.6

In english please. People from all around the world try to interact here, so try to be understood as mush as you can too ;)

The foils have a progressive kicking window, depending on the wind speed and/or the angle your sail has with the wind.
At most, the foils provide a 4% speed ratio.

- un Class 40 qui va plus vite qu'un Imoca
- un multi 50 avec des polaires de Figaro

Oui, c'est ce que j'ai fait remarqu� quand j'ai r�cup�r� les polaires de VR � l'ouverture des 4 courses.

D'apr�s les commentaires, VR a corrig�, je vais donc r�cup�rer les nouvelles polaires imm�diatement...

(et donc on est bien d'accord que c'est des guignols chez Virtual Regatta...)

Alors oui, j'ai vu �a (d'ailleurs, je l'ai recomment� un peu plus haut dans ce thread).
Effectivement, les polaires de l'Ultimate ont �t� corrig�es, mais le Multi 50 est toujours sur un profil de Figaro 2, et le Class 40 a toujours des polaires plus rapides qu'un Imoca (mais bon �a, chez VR, c'est peut-�tre normal, vu que ces polaires sont identiques � celles que j'avais pu r�colt� par le pass� sur ces 2 types de bateaux)

Looks like there also are proper[1] Multi 50 polars now (15% faster than IMOCA).

Hello, I would like to know the difference between Imoca_60_new and imoca_60.
It is to create the polar with toxcct.
Or I go directly to toxcct by clicking Imoca 60.

Same thing; imoca_60_new is the technical name, but the boat name appears as Imoca 60 on the Polars App.

If you reach the CSV Generator, you will see that there is only one kind of Imoca anyway.

I thought I've won the last one, but boats suddenly started appearing out of the blue when our group took the lead. And then the game moves the boats at different time so you can never be sure where you stand.

Speaking of this one, Bandy popped on my screen yesterday in a pretty good position, and I guess he's not the only one.

Any idea of the position / angle of the ranking gate? I'm surprised we aren't closing faster on the leaders now that we're going in the right direction.

There were a lot of sail changes today and a lot of room for error. I let it on full auto and was somehow surprised by the staysail kicking in.

Ranking gate is Miami to Isle of Kahouanne, so no surprise here. We just have to decrease the DTF.

This event had an interesting finish, full of surprises that weren't all that surprising.

Speedo is incredibly good at this... but part of that is because he pushes the limits. He runs aground more than anyone else among top competitors, but does well anyway. He simply insists on cutting every corner as close as possible, and sometimes too closely. In The Odyssey, I think he ran aground in all four legs, but won a couple of them and finished top 10 in all four regardless. Anyway... With the way VR updates standings, it wasn't clear who was leading... But it was clear that the top 4 included me, Speedo, Tipap, and a fourth boat. I believe Buddha was in a solid 5th (but could be wrong).

Speedo ran aground on the West side of Guadeloupe.

I ran into a VR glitch that was new to me... I ran waypoints until we were VMG beating, and then killed my final waypoint and switched to VMG beating, about 3 minutes after passing my second-to-last waypoint. Somehow, a few minutes later, it reverted my already-sailed course to extend on my course from before that past waypoint along that previous course for an additional mile before continuing the TWA 40 course I had set. I then sailed as best I could to the finish, with Tipap and the fourth contender long gone and Buddha ahead.

The fourth contender ran aground on the final point of land before the finish, so I was able to sneak back into 3rd. I apologize for not being able to remember who he was... he was having a great race, but I think he wound up outside the top 200 because of the grounding. I can't find him in the final results, which is why I can't recall his name. Anyway... Speedo recovered about 20 minutes after his grounding and finished 66th.

I've learned that to enjoy this game, you can't get angry when BS bugs kill days or even weeks of effort. If you want to win, you also need to be willing to push limits and risk groundings. It's all tradeoffs, and the inconsistency in the rankings makes it all confusing. My guess is that Speedo was leading approaching Guadeloupe, and Tipap, the fourth boat, and I were closely contending for second... so for me to finish 3rd felt rationalizeably acceptable. I got shafted by a glitch that cost me Buddha and maybe Tipap, but I also benefited from two groundings.

I'm not sure what my next race will be. Probably C600. It's fun.
