A new icon shaped like a small ruler has appeared on my VORG game control console. When you click on it you have access to some stick pins. First time I noticed that feature!

Nice, but they forgot to indicate the directions of the GC and rhumb line.

Has anyone other than me found those stick-pins at all useful? United Games asked for input on improvements we would like to see and I submitted that a compass readout indicating the angle to the next pin and the previous pin would be handy.

How about if a pin is attached to a boat is gives the angle and distance to the next pin in the list but travels with the boat?

Or if you have a pin on each of two boats you get a moving distance and angle.

I use the pins quite a bit actually. I use the pins as a nice reference to when certain events occur like tacking or gybing or wind shifts.

Zezo has the correct info when you mouseover his black dots. they need to work like that, then it would be sweet! I basically put my pins where the black dots are on SS. I just read the Lat/long and transfer it to VOR.

Works nicely that way. Imo

It might be nice to be able to make a note to your pin so that when you click/mouseover it, you can read it.

I agree, they come in very handy for reference points. It would be a nice addition to have the info appear on a mouse-over instead of having to first open a menu.

I'd like to be able to "restart" the sequence with a different "number-one pin" not tied with the previous ones

That would be useful indeed pgfiore. I wonder how many a person should have at his disposal? remembering of course that some poor server somewhere has to watch over all these things.

The server know nothing about the pins - they are entirely client-side. That's why you don't get your pins when logging from different machine.

I have to ask..... but does this get back to my "2 boats Vs. Destination" thread?

1 (Diff. destinations for each boat in SS): "2 boats Vs. 2 Destination" <<<< your side (SS)?

2.(Diff. sets of pins for each boat in VORG): "I'd like to be able to "restart" the sequence with different "number-1 pin" not tied with the previous ones.

and

"But are really only useful for 1 boat. I can't use them the way they are except for 1 boat at a time. >>>> VORG side?

Agreed! The way I use the pins are to remind me of tack or gybe sequences. But are really only useful for 1 boat. I can't use them the way they are except for 1 boat at a time.

As far as number of them I really don't see a need of more than 4 per boat.
That would give you a pin for boat position firt tack or gybe, 2nd tack/gybe, and next target point after that. Since the boat moves past pins, you can just reset the ones you pass. Don't really need more. IMO

Since the pins were put in to measure distances, which I don't really use them for, I wonder how far they are willing to go with them. But it would sure be nice!!

I find the pins very useful - for one boat. If I could ask for a single improvement, it would be for a separate set for each boat so we can mark our tack and jibe points.

Of course it would be even better if we could view our boats and positions in GE where there are unlimited waypoints.
