Hi,
i see the fastest boats round me , always steering exactly 150.0 , in jules verne.
i find that very hard, most of the time its xxx.6 .8 or xxx.2 .
so i am steering not the optimal course. On these long races it add ups to multiple miles.

is there a trick to get it right?

It's weird. Sometimes it works out of the box and sometimes you can spend one hour waiting for slight wind shifts to get the exact numbers.

I haven't found a shortcut myself. It's worse in the weather update window, but is not perfect the other time. Programmed turns works sometimes, but not always.

Hi,
Sometimes it works like this:
- close auto TWA
- click and hold steering wheel
- turn around few times left, than few times right
- adjust a course, run Auto TWA

Try few times to get an exactly right course.

I've been wondering about this too. I saw many top boats go at the exact optimum angle, but I saw some of them go at non-optimal angles too.
Maybe it's just not possible to tune TWA to 0.1�, but perhaps it can be done using a waypoint (set it at the position reached in one hour at fixed heading, immediately remove it and switch to TWA).
According to my observations however, the interface does not even always lock into the current TWA that's displayed when you're using a fixed heading.

Spent a shedule Rids... Set it ex 2 hour ahead of you. Then autotwa off and move time forward or back. Autotwa on agian and check the shed. If its there pull it back to your boat. If not try a new time move on it

It all depent on how much the wind bends

I use kalle's method (moving a programation on heading in time to get whole number twa and then adjust to desired twa) if I don't mind spending an extra programation for a current course or for getting future course changes exact.

Otherwise you have to resort to unsetting twa. If you are really lucky setting it back on might do the trick otherwise wait for a wind shift to turn it back on as Cvetan says -dashboard helps to see how quickly it is changing and so estimate when you can switch it back on. It can be bad news in a fast changing wind direction because server and client can disagree on TWD by several degrees and so there can be large differences between what TWA means in client and server. In slow changing wind shift you can wait a long time.

If you don't have a course programmed a help card can sometimes at least get you to a whole number - just make sure it will not tack or gybe or auto-change your sail before you accept it! Once on a whole number it usually stays on a whole number if you adjust it.

I'm sorry for my poor english :
You can put a waypoint at about 2 or 3 hours ahead.
Next zoom max on this way point : move it on each side near 149 to 151 if you want for example TWA 150.
You take the difference between latitudes or longitudes in seconds, cut it in half, then you can have the heading for TWA 150.0 !
Don't forget to remove the waypoint and next lock the regulator.

Hi All,
You can adjust your angle at value that you want in the hundredth of degree. need only a max of 11 minutes ....
need one prog card and dashboard !
